Johns Trophy Report Middlesex v Surrey The match was played at Bounds Green B.C. in fine weather. Surrey were leading by 10 shots at the half way stage. Middlesex responded well, putting pressure on Surrey, which paid dividends as Middlesex found themselves 6 shots ahead with 24 ends left to play. The teams were level with 18 ends to go. Although both teams won 9 ends of the remaining 18 left, Surrey gained the advantage by winning multiple shots and limited Middlesex to only 1 or 2 shots per end. The result was Middlesex 108 v Surrey 119. Middlesex won on 4 rinks to get 8 points and Surrey won 2 rinks by large margins to get 14 points. The Middlesex rink of Janine Bancroft, Dot Stanners, Jo White and Kay Stockley were 4–13 down and made a remarkable comeback to win 20-16 and were Middlesex’s top scoring rink.
